Welcome everyone. These days IP Law is constantly in the news. On top of what now seems like the quaint problems of digital replication and social media repurposing, there is a whole new dimensionality to the challenges which A.I. poses. Whatever derivative of whichever content you wish to generate, some partially hallucinated distorted refraction is yours at the press of an “enter” (or “return”) button. Don’t like last wednesday’s episode of “The Summer I Turned Pretty”, just generate your own. Want the latest Taylor Swift album sung by Metallica, that can probably be arranged as well. But will the law let you do any more than press the button (or will it even let you do that)? With the help of the courts we might be able to start piecing together some tentative answers this semester….
