Peak Design is the latest to claim Amazonbasics copied them

Amazonbasics has been earning a reputation of taking unfair advantage of Amazon’s marketplace sellers. The EU is currently conducting anti-trust investigations over their use of sellers’ data, and now the popular bag company Peak Design is the latest to accuse them of dubious respect for IP.  (the last high-profile story in this vein being Allbirds)

Peak’s latest video ad compares their Everyday Sling to Amazonbasics’ remarkably similar design, poking fun at both the apparent wholesale copy as well as many cut corners. It’s an interesting tactic to choose over legal action, and already been somewhat effective; Amazon has been battling review-bombers ever since, and also changed their formerly rather giveaway name, ‘Everyday Sling,’ to the more generic ‘Camera Bag.’
