I heard this short segment by chance the other day about whether AI should be open sourced. It includes an interesting suggestion that OpenAI has arguably increasingly deviated from their initial mission of increasing access to AI. Still not sure about my own opinion on this, as I think there could be valid arguments for both sides, but I thought it was pretty thought provoking. Here is the link: Should AI be open source?

Hi Kaja,
This is definitely an interesting topic. Regardless of my own opinion, I find it unlikely that AI will ever be truly open-sourced due to the nature of the power behind it. If something as small and arguably natural as a seed can be patented by corporations (as mentioned by Stephanie in her post), I find it difficult to believe that corporations will not find a manner to privatize just about every aspect of AI in order to leverage its capacity for financial gain.
Cheers.
