A service enabling DJs to provide recognition and funds to producers

Hi everyone! Today I learned about a really interesting community-led initiative that allows DJs to recognize the producers whose songs they play and share their fees with them. Its called Aslice and its a software that has features that allow DJs to report the artists and songs they play and compensate them. Although many DJs will purchase the tracks that they play, meaning that the producers have already received some financial compensation, the site explains that since the 2000s “music sales and producers’ revenues have fallen rapidly while DJ fees have skyrocketed.” This is in contrast to the 1980s and 90s when producers and DJs were compensated more equally.  Reduced producer revenue is attributed partially to increase in streaming services that provide much lower royalties compared to outright sales of tracks or albums.

Seems like this could be a really promising approach to ensure that producers are fairly recognized and compensated  for music they make that is played by others when remedies in copyright law might be inaccessible.
