Extension of copyright term to take effect on 30 December 2022

I thought it was interesting to share this. I know the Canada-United States- Mexico agreement was signed in 2019 and came into force in 2020. Canada had said that it was going to have a transition period of 2 years or so to implement this. It appears that the term of life will officially become 70 years after the life of the author by the 30th of December. Interesting implication for works that are probably meant to go into the public domain this year. This will also unavoidably affect reversionary interests as well. Also considering Theberge, this seems like a tilt that will solely favor the copyright holders.

Please feel free to share your thoughts.
