Activating Learning Mode

Activating Learning Mode

With all the discussion around AI and the ability to copyright, I found this a very interesting clip. As we have learned, AI doesn’t really have the ability to learn at this point. It scrubs the internet for information that is already posted and then compiles it and joins it in a way that “fakes intelligence”. BUT, is this just the start. What if AI actually gets to the point where it can go beyond its own programming and the information on the net and actually learn, as was the case with ROZ learning how to speak the language of animals. This was not part of the “code”, but was an add on that the AI was able to do by bypassing its original programming. Near the end of the movie, the corporation comes back for ROZ and wants to extract all the information from the robot because of its priceless natures. So if the robot went beyond the corporations original programming, and actually “Learned” how to speak animal, does this not connote a kind of “individuality” that is worthy of the protection of copyright for any new works the robot produces with the knowledge that it “Learned”?
