This paper examines copyright issues related to generative AI, with a focus on text and image generation programs. The first part briefly outlines the basics of such AI programs. The discussion identifies two central areas of concern, which are addressed in the second part of the paper. Regarding the input, the question arises as to what data AI systems are fed with and whether copyright is already infringed at this stage. The output raises the question whether what is generated by AI can infringe copyright.
