ChatGPT creating content for BuzzFeed

Hi everyone! I recently came across an article that discussed how BuzzFeed will be creating some of its content using ChatGPT. The use of AI technology for content creation seems to be in its early stage, and BuzzFeed’s CEO said that the company is currently looking to use it for limited purpose – to generate new forms of quizzes, where ChatGPT will be only used to generate an infinite number of responses rather than being fully involved in creating quizzes.

Parts of the article discussed about some concern about the quality of AI-generated content, and there were also some talk about the concern of potentially losing employment for writers. The question that came to my mind when I was reading the article was more about copyright issues. Who owns the copyright to the AI-generated content? Will it be BuzzFeed? ChatGPT’s creator, OpenAI? Or, will it be ChatGPT itself? Can we personify ChatGPT and say that it was “employed” by BuzzFeed at the time it created its contents? How do we calculate the term of the copyright if it belongs to ChatGPT? I am very intrigued by this issue, and I hope we can find out more about the relationship between AI and copyright.
